Vow… in Lockdown 2 – the sequel!

Here we are again, about mid-way through the second lockdown this year. We thought we’d check in with you all to see how you are and share what we’ve been up to.  We’re obviously missing all our brides and grooms and missing simply being in the gallery, but we’ve occupied our time wisely (ish!).  Here’s a quick rundown of what we’ve been up to.

Getting Exercise

It’s always important for us to take regular exercise and it’s been even more important during lockdown because I don’t know about you but I always seem to eat more when I’m at home!  Together, we like to take at least one walk a week out in the fresh air.  Since Dave’s had his super-duper watch we know we do about 11k each time which isn’t bad.  As we live near Ferry Meadows we don’t need to drive anywhere, just walk from our back door!

I specifically love to Zumba and so have kept that up since the first lockdown.  I’m so lucky as my fabulous Zumba teacher has done Zoom sessions almost every day of the week, every week, since the start of the first lockdown in March.  It’s such a sacrifice by him, but it’s been incredible for us all to keep in touch with each other as well as keeping us all fit.  It’s amazing how quickly I got used to exercising in the living room!!

Playing the Guitar

Dave loves playing the guitar and usually has a little strum every day.  Even if only for a few minutes, at least it keeps him up with it and progressing nicely.  Don’t tell anyone but it’s his big birthday next year and he was all planned to get the ‘band’ back together for his big celebration. Unfortunately, that’s been cancelled now and we’ll have to wait for his big birthday plus one!  Nevertheless, we get to have a sing-song in the conservatory, even if I do have to put up with the same song over and over!

Supporting Close Family

I’ve been doing my daughterly duties for Mum and Dad throughout this whole pandemic.  After a long spell shielding and obviously still needing to be extra careful, they’re limited to what they can do.  They’ve been amazing sticking it out and staying mentally strong but it continues to be tough just not being able to do all the things we should be doing.  I know you’ll all have similar situations and it’s when you stop and think about things that it can hit you.  Still, we’ve been shopping every week for them. Our support has ranged from driving them to the hospital for regular appointments to sorting out their drains (I left that one for Dave!).

A Project!

This time we wanted a specific project to focus on so we thought what better opportunity than to decorate the bridal room!  It’s not going to be anything majorly different. However, it was just in need of a spruce up so we’re halfway through painting and tidying.  It’s been fun, actually!  We’ve usually got some sort of 80’s mix on in the background to get us motivated so apologies to the neighbours if you’ve heard us singing!  Anyway, watch this space for the final outcome…

Zoom with Friends

Lockdown must-have Zoom continues to play a big part in keeping us connected with our friends. We cannot wait to properly meet up again, hug and kiss, and just hang out. In the meantime, it’s been wonderful to at least see each other with the help of modern technology.  So it’s been lovely to catch up regularly with my ‘Zumba gals’, just to check in with each other and make sure we’re all ok.  We all have such different home and work situations so it’s good to hear about how we’re all doing.

Of course, there have been some big birthday celebrations that have had to be postponed, none more so than my lovely uni friend who had her 50th birthday the other week.  We were all supposed to be meeting up but that was obviously cancelled so instead a few of us had our own little party on Zoom.  Dress up in 1970’s gear she said.  Good job Dave’s Elvis outfit was still at the back of the wardrobe!!

We can’t go without mentioning Jackson, our lovely cat.  He’s been generally happy to have us around more. He seems to get fed more, but he certainly doesn’t like being disturbed when he’s sleeping!!

We hope you’re all doing ok too.  We look forward to seeing those of you already booked in for December, and then more of you in the new year.  No one is looking forward more to a new year than we are!!!

Stay safe all!

Lisa & Dave
