Vow… to look back at the year that was 2020!

Lisa and Dave

2020 has been our 9th year selling fabulous wedding dresses and hiring men’s formal wear to the Peterborough, Stamford and Rutland areas. So, as we near the end of the year, we feel a bit of sentimental reflection come over us! Phew, what a year it has been!

We started off 2020 really happy that 2019 had been our busiest most successful year.  We were still fresh from celebrating our third year of wins at the English Wedding Awards and things were great.  Then came along you know what and things were obviously different.  Even through the challenges it has been really great to meet so many wonderful brides and grooms and to help make their day so special – when we’ve been allowed to of course! We have been really humbled by the fabulous feedback they have given us, and quite frankly it’s been our pleasure. We wish all the brides and grooms we met in 2020 all the best for 2021 and beyond. Will we hear the patter of more tiny Vow feet in 2021?!

So, in amongst meeting all our fabulous brides and grooms, what else did the year have in store for us?

Well it’s certainly been a challenging year, but we’ve got through it! 2020 saw us introduce our virtual appointments service to discover what kind of dresses you’d like to look at before you come and visit us in the gallery. We had to close the gallery during the lockdowns, but that didn’t stop us planning in the background! Even when we weren’t physically in the gallery, we spent plenty of time talking to our lovely Vow brides and grooms about what dresses and suits they’d like to try when we got back into the gallery once again!  It’s definitely been tough, for all of us, and it’s something we continue to deal with in fast changing circumstances but the virtual conversations have been invaluable and a real positive change that has come out of the doom & gloom.

2020 Began With a New Designer

We were excited when our new Madi Lane Bridal Collection arrived in January (wow remember the ‘normal’ times in Jan 2020?!). Our brides seem to love the collection as much as we do, and that’s great! You can find out more about the beautiful collection here.

We Celebrated the ‘New’ Gallery’s 5th Birthday!

In July we celebrated the 5th anniversary of our move to our bigger and better premises. It only seems like yesterday since we moved and we still really love our new place and we know our 2020 brides and grooms did too! We were thrilled to be able to reopen after lockdown to mark our gallery birthday.  We love the space we have to display our dresses and suits, and, of course at that time it was great that brides and grooms were able to come back in and try them on!

We Welcomed Other New Bridal Collections

As well as our new design, Madi Lane Bridal, we were also pleased with new collections from our existing designers. Here at Vow we are always on the lookout for something new and interesting for our brides so look out for our new designer arriving in January 2021! Keep your eyes peeled for updates on our social media channels!

Of Course, We Couldn’t Forget Our Vow Grooms

In 2020, we didn’t forget our grooms. We saw fewer of you due to the circumstances but our Slim-Fit Suits across all our Mohair Range still proved very popular as did our extended our range of tweed suits and waistcoats.

We also introduced a light wool Navy Check suit which we expect to be really popular in 2021 so that’s something to be thankful for.

Vow… to Work Behind the Seams!

It was great to continue to work with our seamstresses Michelle and Sharon who are invaluable to Vow Bridal Gallery!  We were also thrilled to welcome Kay into the fold to increase our capacity to provide a first class alterations service.  Obviously Covid changed a huge amount of wedding dates and we had far fewer alterations to complete during 2020 in the end.  But when we did need them boy did we need to pull the stops out, usually getting dresses ready in shorter timescales and in challenging situations.  Michelle, Sharon & Kay – we appreciate you all so much!  And I obviously need to take more photos of you all(?!), here’s Michelle anyway in happier closer times…

Vow… to Look Forward!

So, what to look out for in 2021 at the Vow Bridal Gallery?

Hopefully, we will see movement in the fight against COVID-19 and here’s to seeing restrictions easing so that brides and grooms can celebrate with their friends and family in the way they would wish to.  It won’t come straight away but we remain positive.

For our new brides, as we mentioned earlier, we will be introducing a brand new designer and new dresses from our existing designers from January onwards. For our grooms, we will be continuing with Slim-fit suits across all our Mohair range with slimmer fitting trousers and new styles. Our Dinner Suits are also now available in Slim-fit for your more formal evening occasions and those all-important award ceremonies – let’s hope we start to see some of these things as we progress through 2021!

As you can tell, there is always lots of exciting things happening here at the Vow Bridal Gallery, even in these difficult times so, to keep up to date with all the latest news find us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest.

Christmas tree

Thanks again to our lovely brides and grooms, our Vow Team, our designers and suppliers,  Have a relaxed, safe, Christmas and New Year and here’s to a more positive 2021!

We’re going to take a well-earned break at home although we will still spare some thoughts for Vow brides and grooms who have had to change their plans so many times over this year, including those who were hoping to get married over the festive period and now sadly can’t.  We genuinely feel for you all.

However, we look forward to meeting lots of new brides and grooms in 2021 and remember whether you want a classic look or whether you want something that bit different we can certainly help you! We look forward to seeing you here at the, still all-new, award-winning Vow Bridal Gallery.

Take special care everyone!
